Yes, but initially our one-on-one services are geared towards high school students. However, it is never too early to start the college and career planning process therefore we offer free group workshops to ALL CUSD families. For more information visit plus check our grade level Scope of Services.

1.       Best Fit College Search & Selection

2.       Application Strategy & Assistance

3.       Career Exploration & Planning

4.       Financial Aid (group workshops only) & Scholarship Support

How do I schedule a one-on-one appointment?

You can schedule an appointment via our website By clicking on the “Appointments and Events” tab > “Schedule a one-on-one Appointment” or directly click Appointments can be scheduled up to 60 days out, however, certain grade levels have priority during the school year so review our Scope of Services

Do I need to complete anything prior to my appointment?

Yes two forms. In order for us to provide a personalized experience you MUST complete a Pre-Meeting Questionnaire before your appointment (at least 48 hours before to avoid cancellation). In addition, both student and parent/guardian MUST sign and bring a copy of our Acknowledgement and Clearance Form (or email with a scanned copy).  You can access the links to the forms in your confirmation email which is sent to the email address you provided upon registration.

How long is an appointment?

Our sessions are typically 45 minutes long depending on the topic or questions.

How far in advance can I schedule an appointment?

Appointments can be scheduled up to 60 days out.

Will I get a confirmation when I schedule an appointment or register for a workshop?

Yes, you will be sent a confirmation immediately from our online appointment system to the email address you provided. It is important to list the most appropriate email. You will also get an email reminder before your scheduled activity.

Which email should I include when I set up an appointment?

If you want the confirmation to go to a parent email please provide parent email.

Is there a phone number where you can be reached?

We are constantly meeting with families or conducting group workshops therefore we are not available to be contacted via phone. The best way to contact us is through our email

How do I cancel my one-on-one appointment or group workshop?

Please refer to your confirmation email and click on the “cancel or reschedule” link. As a courtesy to the counselors and other students for one-on-one appointments, please cancel at least 48 hours in advance. If you cancel less than 48 hours prior to your one-on-one appointment, you will be forfeiting one of your future appointments for the year.

What if I cancel my one-on-one appointment?

Space is limited therefore we cannot guarantee that you will be able to find another appointment right away.

If you cancel, you may be ineligible for another appointment.

What if I miss my one-on-one appointment?

Provided you cancel 48 hours in advance, you should be able to reschedule, however it could be a month or more before you are seen by one of our counselors. For your convenience, we send out multiple reminders. If you “no-show,” then you may forfeit future appointments.

When should I schedule a follow up one-on-one appointment?

Actions items must be completed before scheduling a follow-up session.

Do my parents need to be there (or does my child need to come)?

Our sessions are meant to support the student therefore if your student cannot attend you must reschedule. Students MUST be present for one-on-one appointments. Parents: if you have questions please join us for our monthly events (including our Parent Q&A - College Unplugged webinar events) rather than taking up a one-on-one appointment without your student.

Can I schedule more than 1 one-on-one appointment at a time?

No, our sessions are based on milestone action items, therefore we encourage families to schedule subsequent appointments only after they have completed the action items. Due to limited space, students can hold one appointment in our calendar at a time. If multiple appointments are made, we will cancel at our discretion.

When are you available?

We are available for one-on-one appointments during the academic school year, August through June, Monday - Friday from 3pm - 9pm. Certain grade levels have priority during the school year so review our Scope of Services.

Do you have a waitlist for appointments?

No, however you can check back frequently on to see if there are openings due to cancellations.

Can I just drop in?

No, in order to best serve our students (and manage our space requirements), we require scheduled one-on-one appointments.

Is there a limit on how many one-on-one appointments I can have?

Yes, we try to limit per grade level based on our resource availability of only 3 counselors. Juniors and Seniors will have priority in the fall. Visit to schedule an appointment and view availability. We highly recommend attending group events in order to continue getting support for all your college and career needs.

Can I get help with picking my classes or making my four-year plan?

The Academic Advisor at your school is your best source for the type of assistance such as high school course scheduling and selection, graduation requirements, credit check, and four-year planning. If course selection comes up during our session, we typically will only help explore options based on your college and career goals.

Can I request a specific counselor or meet with the same counselor if I met with her once already?

Initial appointments are made randomly through our online appointment system however, please be assured that any of our counselors can easily pick up where the other left off. During the initial meeting the counselor will provide instructions on how to make a follow-up appointment with them (also listed at the bottom of your ACTION checklist).
